Description

(This is the advanced version of the Cow Game. I recommend teachers start with the free basic version, which is a fully functional version only missing the advanced features. Downloading the preview file will give you the complete basic version including a demonstration video that will show you how the Cow Game works.)

The Cow Game is an easy to run classroom management dairy farm simulation game in which students work in teams to raise cows. In the simulation, turning in homework and working well in class leads to healthier cows which produces more milk and greater profits. Students love running their own business, bond with their cows and work hard to make their farm successful. Because kids get very involved in the Cow Game, soon virtually every student is behaving in class, doing their homework and paying attention. In addition, the students and teacher have fun. The Cow game has been used successfully with students in grades 3 - 8 at a variety of different schools.

The Cow Game incorporates a number of features that draw students in:

* Cute cows that the students take care of and bond with
* A simulated economy where students can run a business
* An opportunity to work with other students in a common cause
* Cow Cards that the students collect
* An intriguing imaginary world the students can be part of

To make the simulation work, all the teacher needs to do is keep track of two weekly scores for each group - Farmwork (which corresponds to homework) and Care & Feeding (which corresponds to behavior.) At the end of the week, using these two scores, the Cow Game automatically generates, for each team, the health of their cow, the amount of milk it produced, the profits it made, it weight gain, and the team's savings account.

This is an incredibly fun activity for both teachers and students and you will be amazed at the excitement, hard work, and good behavior that it leads to.
