Understanding what it takes to make a budget work and being a good steward of the blessings God has bestowed on you can be somewhat difficult if you’ve never done it before. Now, here’s your chance. This project will require you to think about the things that you want for yourself as you get older such as a house, car, etc. It will also assist you in figuring out how you will be able to afford those items as well as other typical bills while remembering to give back to God a portion of what He has given to you based on the average salary of someone in your desired, future profession.
Are you ready to find out the cost of growing up?
This is a great project for those in the state of Georgia attempting to fulfill the fifth grade career requirement or anyone wanting to help give their students a small dose of the realities of life. All of the websites are included in a step by step manner with very specific directions. While working on the project, I have found it very helpful to preview each website with the students in order to help them see exactly what the directions are referring to. This usually helps to cut down on some of the questions ahead of time. In addition, a grading rubric is included for the students to create a cohesive poster board displaying their monthly budget sheet, print outs, and other vital pieces of information.
The packet pages are meant to be printed out for your students. Since the pages are half-sheets, they can easily be printed, cut, and glued into each student's interactive journal to make them easier to keep track of.
State of Georgia Standards of Excellence in Math and Social Studies are also included.
Enjoy!
