The Civil War Song!

This song is a tremendous tool for the teacher covering the Civil War period. This is an original song recorded at San Diego's hit making Earthling Records Studio that was sung by Jillian Lagassi before she moved to London to launch her music career (yes that would be Chef Emeril's daughter).
The lyrics cover the causes and some of the major events from the Civil War and the breaks in the song include six important quotes from the Civil War Period. The attached free download contains the lyrics to this song so feel free to take a look. In the classroom this song can be used as an introduction to the Civil War Unit and later as a review.
Another way to use the song that has been successful is to have the teacher hand out a sheet with the six quotes from song without stating who said each quote and ask the students to search and find out who said each one. Then play the song with the lyrics on the overhead and the students can see who actually said each of the six quotes. Other ways to use this song can be to take the word document and create fill in the black worksheets for the students to fill in as you listen to the song. The idea is to have a fun lively classroom experience with a little music in order to reach all types of learning modalities.
