The Burger Bar Vocabulary Memory and Recall Boom Cards

This 61-card Boom Learning deck is a simulation of a Burger restaurant where learners get to experience taking orders, assembling burgers, and getting fries and drinks. It mainly targets memory and recall, as well food vocabulary and qualitative concepts (sizes). This FUNctional activity can be used for students who are developing life skills and also for those who are looking to explore less common vocabulary and concepts.

The details of the deck are as follows:

1. Taking the order - learners read the ordered meal from the monitor. Orders can range from 3-4 items and learners are required to memorize them.
2. Burger assembly - learners can look at the Food Guide to know the burger toppings. They will then assemble the burgers in proper sequence.
3. Fries assembly - learners get fries from the deep fryer and place it in the carton. Note that the size of the carton should be correct.
4. Drink assembly - learners also get the drink by placing the cup in the soda machine. Note that the size of the cup and type of drink should be correct.
5. Salad assembly - learners combine different ingredients on a plate to form a salad.
6. Role Play/Free Play - learners can pick a role and play with peers. The different roles include customer, cashier, and cook.
