What educators are saying

Thank you so much for this wonderful resource. It was engaging and easy to use. The students were able to follow along.
I was able to use the power point to help supplement my instruction and it helped break down things into easier context for my students to understand. Thanks!

Description

DESCRIPTION
Teach about the Bill of Rights with this PowerPoint presentation, notes, and test. Slides are written for 4th, 5th, or 6th grade students. This mini-unit includes 13 PowerPoint slides, student notes, and a 30 question test!

*This mini-unit is a ZIP file download that includes:
--Editable Microsoft PowerPoint presentation slides to present content to students
--Editable Microsoft PowerPoint version of student notes, test, and answer key
--PDF versions of PowerPoint presentation, student notes, test, and answer key

*There are 13 slides in the PowerPoint that include each amendment written in kid-friendly language PLUS background information on the Bill of Rights

*There are 2 different versions of student notes including one version of guided, fill in the blanks notes. The other version is a graphic organizer for students to summarize and symbolize each amendment as it is discussed.

*30 question test includes matching for each amendment, matching for vocabulary, and a few scenarios/multiple-choice style questions

*Try before you buy--Download preview to see entire product! There are multiple pages tiled on each page and a watermark in the preview, however, as a teacher, I want to know exactly what I am getting, so check out the preview to see it all and make sure it meets the needs of your students.

SUGGESTIONS
*Present as a direct instruction lesson and have students complete guided notes
*Print slides and have students work in cooperative groups to learn about an amendment then teach it to their classmates
*Have students work independently or with a partner to read through the slides and complete notes independently, then review as a class before assessing
*The content and vocabulary are geared towards students in 4th through 6th grade.

DISCLAIMER
As a Texas teacher, the products I make are designed around the standards for the state of Texas, known as the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and are carefully crafted to help students be successful on the Texas STAAR test. I use the rigor of the TEKS and released STAAR assessments as models and guides when putting together lessons and materials for my students. Thus, I am careful to post products that, in my judgment, address these standards. I am not affiliated in any way with these entities and any and all claims of alignment are my claims, not those of the groups behind the TEKS or STAAR test.

TEKS
5.15C--Explain the reasons for the creation of the Bill of Rights and its importance.
