Description

This script on The Bill of Rights involves students in reading and reviewing each of the first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution. The script incorporates humor and contemporary language and references as well as the actual document wording. It appears in my book DRAMATIZING THE CONTENT WITH CURRICULUM-BASED READERS THEATRE, originally published by The International Reading Association. When the book went out of print, all rights were reverted to me, so I decided to offer this script on Teachers Pay Teachers.

The script is written for several solo speakers with many parts for ALL so that teachers can use it with a whole class. Reading and rehearsing the script familiarizes students with the content and meaning of The Bill of Rights while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts. Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And—because it is a script—they do not mind reading and re-reading the information. Rosalind Flynn offers this Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre script—one of many she has created with students and teachers across the United States.
