Description

How can you tell if something is living? You just check to see if that 'thing' has the 7 characteristics of living things. The object of this lesson is for students to try to come up with the 7 characteristics all living things have in common by looking at pictures. This is a great way to dig deep into what they already may know about living things.

Students first brainstorm these characteristics, then after looking at some picture hints, re-look at and revise their brainstorms ...and finally they check their answers by matching the 7 characteristics to the pictures. This is a FUN way of getting students to actually THINK about what makes something living!

Print the cards out and laminate them to use as clues.
