That Sugar Film documentary ( imdb.to/2pIuPMs ) brings a perspective on one’s health with modern consumption of food and a culturally relevant teaching experience for ALL students of any background. The documentary will highlight from a nutritional standpoint the effects of a high sugar diet. The case studies found within this film do touch on the essence of CRT because many People of Color live in a “Food Desert” Food deserts as explained from these links: ( bit.ly/2umWlVA ),

( bit.ly/2IUc8yj ). Many POC’s have not option but this type of diet however, with this knowledge paired with Food Desert activist this information can be used within students own communities to make a difference in their health and the health of their loved ones. The Fill-in-the-blank handouts allow students of any ability level to watch attentively were the end result is they have information they can look at to guide them in answering their writing prompt after each video segment (each segment aprox. 20 min). The rubrics allow for easier and specific grading that develops and strengthen each students writing in the areas of persuasive, argumentative, informational, narrative, and expository writing. The content and social justice background of this film will create great and safe forums between peers that will get them to continue talking about this subject matter as they walk out the door. Please make sure to follow me to be updated on more CRT curriculum that is exactly in this particular format. Enjoy these next 5 school days of already planned material but, forever remember the experiences that you and your students felt after watching this film.
