Thanksgiving History: Passage - Distance Learning Compatible

Let's clear up a few Thanksgiving myths. The "first Thanksgiving" was not one big meal. The Pilgrims and Wampanoag Native Americans probably did not sit around a long table giving thanks together. And don't start picturing turkeys and pumpkin pie either. The real "first Thanksgiving" was quite different from how it is pictured in many places today.

With this resource, students will learn more about the real "first Thanksgiving" and why many people today picture turkey and pumpkin pie around the holiday. This high-interest passage is engaging, surprising, and fact-filled passages about real history! There is 1 original reading passage included on 5 reading levels covering grades 3-8, totaling 5 passages. Questions (as well as answer keys) aligned to Common Core State Standards are included for the passage. Students can respond to these questions after reading.
