Description

Thanksgiving is a national holiday that is celebrated every year in the United States to remember the feast that was shared hundreds of years ago between the Wampanoag Native Americans and the Pilgrims who sailed to North America on the Mayflower. While you were probably already familiar with that piece of the Thanksgiving story, there’s a lot about Thanksgiving you may not know because focusing only on the “friendly” meal that was shared leaves out the most important parts of the story.

With this resource, students will learn the true story of Thanksgiving by reading an engaging passage on differentiated reading levels. There is 1 original reading passage included on 5 reading levels covering grades 3-8, totaling 5 passages. Questions (as well as answer keys) aligned to Common Core State Standards are included for the passage. Students can respond to these questions after reading. This CCSS-aligned resource is research-based, differentiated to meet the needs of varying ability levels, rigorous, and written to engage. All passages and the question set included in this resource can be printed or shared digitally with students.

What is included? 1 PDF file + access to 1 Google Drive folder containing the following:

• 1 engaging reading passage - see specific topic below

- 5 differentiated reading levels for the passage
