Again, my students are huge fans of an escape room! They almost don't even recognize that they're practicing academic skills while they're trying to be the first one to complete the tasks.

THE TASK: “It’s Thanksgiving Day, and things are a bit chaotic around the house. While your family usually goes to Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving dinner, a severe winter storm has blown in, and it’s doesn’t look like anyone will be going anywhere! Now your family is scrambling to put together a last-minute traditional Thanksgiving dinner to save the day from becoming a complete disaster.

In the four breakouts that follow, you’ll be responsible for the appetizers, side dishes, main dishes, and desserts. Can you use your knowledge of figurative language to save the day and avoid a Thanksgiving disaster? Only time will tell.”

Here's what you'll get:

Directions for using this Thanksgiving escape room in three different ways:

  • Face to face learning with movement & breakout EDU locks (locks not included)
  • Digital learning with Google Slides & Google Forms tasks

Students will love applying what they know about figurative language through these fun breakouts, and you’ll appreciate reviewing critical literary concepts before the break!

Prep is quick and easy... Just print & cut the breakout materials, or assign the escape room on your digital learning platform, and you're ready for a fun and engaging period!

The Breakouts:

  1. Appetizer Alliteration
