⚠️ DOWNLOAD THE PREVIEW FOR A MUCH CLOSER LOOK at the cornucopia pages and to read suggestions for use!
► Students find and color (or cover with magnetic tokens) items in and around the cornucopia that contain their target sound. Each page contains target sounds in various positions (initial, medial, final).
⭐ Each page contains pictures with a different phoneme and a few images that do NOT contain the target sound. There are pages for:
/r/, vocalic r, vocalic /r/ variations (ire, air, or, ar), /r/ blends, /s/, /z/, /s/ blends, /l/, /l/ blends, sh, ch, dz, th, /f/, /v/, /k/, /g/, /t/, /d/, /b/, /p/, /h/, /j/, /w/, /m/, /n/, -ng
► Use this for every level of articulation therapy & adapt it to meet your students’ goals:
1) Use this for sound discrimination (listening for their sound) by having students say each item in the cornucopia and then decide whether or not it contains their sound. Take it further by having them tell the position in which they heard it (beginning, middle, or end).
2) Use this for sound practice in isolation by having students say each item, and then, as another option, then tell the position in which they hear their sound (beginning, middle, or end). Finally, they can practice producing the sound in isolation.
3) Use this for practice in words by having students say each item (so you can assess how he/she produces it independently), or if a verbal model is needed, have students drill/repeat it after you.
4) Use this for practice in phrases by having students say each item and then make a short phrase with it. If needed, you can give them a carrier phrase like “I like _____” or “I see a _____” Or “Let’s eat ______.”
5) Use this for practice in sentences by having students make a sentence about each item in the cornucopia then repeat it X number of times. Challenge them to make the wackiest or longest sentences they can!
6) Use this for practice in spontaneous speech and conversation by having students talk about each item, tell how they feel about it, explain why it does or does not belong in a cornucopia, or tell if they’ve ever seen it at a Thanksgiving feast, etc.
These pages are also perfect to send home for more practice!
