What educators are saying

Our class used some of these pages the day before Thanksgiving break. My kids had so much fun with the "Texting Turkeys" page!
I was diagnosed with COVID Sunday of the week before Thanksgiving and this saved me from the planning trauma of providing meaningful, engaging instructional activities for my kids for the week!

Description

This resource includes a variety of language arts activities to use during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving!! These activities require little to no prep and can be used for literacy centers, classwork, homework, or just for a little bit of Thanksgiving fun!!

All pages are available in color and black & white. Digital Pages are now included in Google Slides. From there, they can also be downloaded as PowerPoint files.

This resource includes the following activities:

  • Thanksgiving Story Builder: Students randomly select cards for the character, setting, and plot of their stories. They can then use the graphic organizer to build their story. Final draft paper is also included.
  • Texting Turkeys: Students create a dialogue between two turkeys who are trying to avoid being eaten for Thanksgiving dinner.
  • WHO is someone you are thankful for?: This owl-themed writing assignment asks students to write about a special person “WHO” they are thankful for.
  • #THANKFUL: This is similar to an acrostic poem, but with hashtags!
  • Undercover Turkeys: Students come up with an alias and back story for turkeys who are going undercover to avoid being dinner.
  • FALLing for Figures of Speech: Students write figurative sentences and draw literal illustrations for fall-themed idioms.
  • Thanksgiving Menu: Students use alliteration to come up with different menu items for Thanksgiving dinner.
  • Thanksgiving Traditions: Students discuss their Thanksgiving traditions with a partner and then complete a Venn diagram to compare and contrast their traditions.
  • Thanksgiving Dessert: Students come up with a brand new Thanksgiving dessert, share the recipe, and write an advertisement.
  • Thanksgiving Book Review: Read a Thanksgiving book aloud to your class. Then have them complete this turkey-themed book review organizer!
  • BONUS: Thanksgiving Bookmarks: These make the perfect treat for students to help encourage reading.
