What educators are saying

This was such a cute resource that got families involved in their child's project! They turned out so cute and can't wait to use this again next year
Very cute resource! I made this into a family project with a paragraph writing unit we're working on. They used the things they're grateful for to write a paragraph about it. It turned out great!

Description

I always love to send home special keepsakes for our families during the holidays. This Thanksgiving Thankful Placemat combines an at-home family project with in-class writing. The resulting project is a Thanksgiving keepsake that families will enjoy for many years! For a better look, just click on PREVIEW!

To complete, students will bring home a special "plate" to decorate with items for which they feel thankful. Once students bring their completed "plates" back to class, they will write about the things they feel thankful for and then compile all the items onto 12x18 construction paper. Lastly, I always like to laminate the finished placemats to ensure that they last forever! Included in this set, you'll find...

Parent Letters:

There are two versions provided. One is the version that I personally send home with my students. If you'd like to customize this letter, there is also an EDITABLE letter template (requires Power Point to uitilize).

"Plate" Page:

Copy onto cardstock and send home with the parent letter.

Thankful Planning Page:

This is an optional page that you can send home with the "plate" and parent letter. It's simply a planning page that students can use as they plan what to include on their 'plate".

"Napkin" Writing Pages:

You'll find two different writing pages. One with fewer writing lines and one with more. Choose the page that is appropriate for your students.

Forks, Knives and Spoons:

These pages should be copied onto white or gray cardstock (or construction paper) for students to cut out. You can use all three utensils, or just two of them... it's up to you!

"Happy Thanksgiving" Banner:

Students will color the banner, cut it out and glue it onto the top of their placemat.
