Description
This interactive booklet is a collection of learning tools that are recursive, meaning that students will come back to them again and again to record and demonstrate new learning. There are 27 pages in the student booklet with a heavy emphasis on justifying answers with textual evidence. All pages in the booklet contribute to the three included essay topics by tracing Cole’s dynamic transformation, documenting his internal and external conflicts and exploring the author’s use of symbols through analysis. This booklet also provides opportunities for rich visual interpretations of the text by creating Cole’s symbolic totem pole, illustrating the steps of the “Dance of Anger,” and through various project options. All student learning tools are offered in PDF. Teacher Answer Keys are in Word format but there are two excel sheets that I use to help manage the large number of symbolic and internal/external conflict quotes available to you. There are also a few PowerPoints that I throw in as a bonus to you!
There is something amazing about giving students the ability to track their learning both aesthetically and efferently and you will find students are extremely proud of the work they have achieved! Please feel free to contact me with any questions as I am always happy to help!
