Text Structure-Informational Article, Writing Frames & Scaffolding Support Page

Two products in one! This is an informational text specifically written to include all five of the most common text structures. For scaffolding instruction, I have included a “cheat sheet” which gives specific paragraphs and topic ideas for students to use for each text structure. This would also be useful for a whole class introduction to writing using text structures. After reading the text, students use the text structure writing frames to compose a paragraph using each structure. This can be used alone, but it is written to work seamlessly with my Writing: Using Text Structures. This will also work right along with my other text structure products.

The writing frames were developed as a scaffold for “Writing: Using the Text Structures”, but can be used on their own. “Writing: Using the Text Structures” gives students a reference page with example paragraphs, graphic organizers, signal words, and tips to writing their paragraph.
You may choose to use the frames with the informational text included by assigning students to use the same text to use in writing paragraphs for all five text structures.
