This introduction to 27 text features highlights the various print features and visual aids that help students understand nonfiction text, including the table of contents, glossary, index, appendix, captions, diagrams, and maps. Since a key component of this lesson is perusing nonfiction selections at their tables, each of the 27 features also has a slide asking students to find that particular text feature in a book at their tables.
