Terror in Brussels

This product has an article from the Wall Street Journal written by Matthew Dalton on April 4, 2016. It comes with 19 comprehension questions to help your students understand the network behind the terrorist attacks in Belgium and France and improve your student’s comprehension skills. There are two internet activities included in this package. One is on the Muslim Population in European Countries which touches on the migration of Syria refugees to Europe. The other Internet Activity has 20 questions to research about the Brussels’ attack on March 22, 2016. Get your students engaged in their own learning with this activity. It was a story written by Jason Bruke for the Guardian about a Muslim Belgium family who lost their son when he joined ISIS and went to fight in Syria. There are no comprehension questions with this article because I felt it might be an interesting story for your class to read together and a teacher lead discussion might be more appropriate; since many young people are being racialized around the world today.
