This lesson is the perfect precursor to students completing the Butterfly Project - an amazing lesson from the Houston Holocaust Museum that uses poetry and artwork created by children in the Theresienstadt Ghetto to inspire students to create butterflies representing the children lost during the Holocaust.
This resource includes:
- Lecture Notes over how the town of Terezin became the Theresienstadt Ghetto (Google Slide Deck & PDF)
- Fill-in-the Blank Guided Notes for students to complete as they follow along to the lecture (Google Docs & PDF)
- 16-Question self-grading Google Forms Quiz (Google Forms & PDF)
- The Butterfly Project (from the Houston Holocaust Museum) background and directions sheet - you will need the book "...I never saw another butterfly..." to complete the butterfly project (Google Slide Deck & PDF)
Use this lesson to enhance any Holocaust Unit and focus on the ARTS in Language Arts!
