Description

Are you looking for digital math task cards & fluency practice all in one that are engaging and integrate FUN FACTS?! This Telling Time to the Minute Fact of the Day digital math activity is perfect for distance learning or your technology rotation during your in-person math rotations or during your whole group math mini lesson. Just project the game onto the screen and have your students use their whiteboards to write the answers to the questions.

Your reading specialist will also LOVE you even more because your students will be practicing reading and oral fluency during math time! Your students will also use their background knowledge to predict & infer throughout the game as they think about what the full fact might say. And once the fact has been revealed, your students will be practicing their questioning skills because these facts will definitely make them WONDER...!

Watch the video preview to see how it works! You'll notice a FUN FACT is revealed once all math problems have been answered.

How I personally use this resource:

I am teaching 100% virtual this year (via Zoom) and I use these digital activities during my math small groups and during my morning meetings as our math & fluency warm-ups. Additionally, I'll assign a game to my students as one of their independent math assignments. This is hands-down one of their favorite activities to participate in over Zoom!

How does this digital fact of the day game work?

This set of Unravel the Fact Telling Time digital task cards are perfect for practicing & reviewing time to the minute. Each time a math problem is answered correctly, a part of a fun fact is revealed. Once all questions have been answered correctly, the entire fun fact will be revealed! This fun telling time set will definitely foster curiosity, keep your students engaged and excited while they work on their time math skills.

What is included?

  • 2 Self-checking task card game sets that reveal a fun fact
  • Two formats {Google Slides AND PowerPoint}

  • 1 Set for Time to the Minute #2 {includes 10 Task Cards and a fun fact}

The facts in this set are about SNAKES and they will RATTLE YOUR MIND!

Tell Me More About This Digital Math Game:

  • To begin playing, be sure to click Present in Google Slides or put the game in Presentation mode in PowerPoint
  • Students will solve 10 math problems on a digital task card via Google Slides or Powerpoint.
  • They will choose the answer from the three choices given. If they answer the problem correctly, a part of an interesting fact will be revealed.
  • If the answer is incorrect, the game will prompt them to go back to the problem and solve again {THIS IS A SELF-CORRECTING GAME!}.
  • Once they've answered all questions correctly, the entire fact will be revealed to them!

  • If teachers decide to use as a whole group warm-up, this is also great for FLUENCY PRACTICE because you are providing your students with the opportunity to read and reread a text {the fact} aloud over and over. Each student will hear you and their classmates reading the text over and over, which provides for that added fluency practice during math time! #CrossCurricularContentIntegration
  • These can be used as a daily whole group math warm-up or your students can use these as an independent activity during math rotations or at home for distance learning.

  • My absolute favorite part about this resource is that the facts SPARK CURIOSITY in my students. Throughout the game, as each part of the fact is revealed, they are predicting what they think the fact may be--this gets them thinking and eager to find out the fact! And the really cool part--once they've read the entire fact, they begin to wonder, they begin to ask questions, and want to KNOW MORE about the topic. This leads to them researching the topic, reading about the topic and sharing what they've learned with their peers. And that's what learning is all about!
