Telling Time to the Hour and Half Hour

Your students will love these fun and engaging math centers that allow them to practice telling time to the hour and half hour!

Included are all the directions and templates you’ll need to create these five centers, plus ideas for how to differentiate each center for special needs learners and above level students.

In this file, you will find:

Three pages of detailed teacher directions for how to set up each center, materials needed, how the center activity works, and ideas for how to differentiate each activity.

Center 1: A Carton of Clocks
Students place a small round object inside an egg carton and shake, shake, shake it. They open the lid to reveal what time the object landed on and then graph their results. There are options for time to the hour and half hour, as well as multiple graphs to meet your students’ needs.

Center 2: Time to the Hour and Half Hour Puzzles
Three piece puzzles for students to match analog, digital, and written time. 12 time to the hour puzzles and 12 time to the half hour puzzles. Includes student directions, answer keys for students to self-check once the puzzles are complete, and a writing extension activity.

Center 3: What Time is It? Write-the-Room
Twelve time to the hour and twelve time to the half hour cards that can be placed/hidden around the room for students to find and record the time. Includes several recording sheet options for students, as well as student directions and answer keys.

Center 4: Roll Around the Clock (low prep, print & go)
Students roll dice to practice showing and writing time to the hour.

Center 5: Half Past Spin Off (low prep, print & go)
Students spin a paper clip to reveal the time and color in their game board. They keep spinning and recording until they have colored five boxes in a row. Practices half past the hour.
