What educators are saying

I used this during my decision making unit. It was a great way to get them out of the normal course work.

Description

Dr. Sigma's Synergy Activities are exercises that promote team-building, cooperation and consensus building. Synergy - Stranded Predicament Activity is an exercise that involves determining, as a group, the survival items that will be taken to an uninhabited island to help the group survive. There are twenty-four survival items but each group only has the time / space to take six items. The groups must evaluate information about their designated islands in order to discuss and prioritize the items most necessary for survival.

There are a number of different ways that this activity can be implemented in the classroom -- from a whole class activity, to a group activity to an individual or partner web quest. The islands included in the activity are real uninhabited islands in the world and the information about them was obtained from Internet sources. The survival items identified in this activity were selected based on the online recommendation of various survival experts including former Navy Seals, outdoor enthusiasts and extreme adventurers,

This activity can be used for students in late elementary, middle school, high school and adult learning programs. .
