What educators are saying

Great for elementary students and my MH caseload. Love the pig ? worth multiple trials to teach each concept. Thanks for making part 2!
I have the first the Part One of prepositions from TypeB SLP and had to buy Part Two! This is so engaging for my students working on prepositions! Love it!

Description

This differentiated set of BOOM Cards™ is intended to support students in learning prepositional vocabulary through errorless learning practice, including prepositions: first, last, between, out, off, into, against, through, near. It uses a sweet character, Peter the pig, and a fun story telling technique to increase engagement and recall of these targeted prepositions. It also uses specific, repetitive language targets and visuals to increase carryover of skills, as well as repetitive tasks for learning prepositions (as per suggestions via the study listed below). Watch the preview video for an example of leveled learning. Also included are sentence strips and hide-n-find type activities for maximum engagement during sessions! Great for teletherapy and distance learning, too! Includes printable manipulatives for hands-on learning as well.

According to a study conducted by Nicholas et al. 2019,  titled "Variability of input in preposition learning by preschoolers with developmental language disorder and typically-developing language,"  when working with a child with low overall language or receptive vocabulary skills, trying to show the meaning of a preposition with a bunch of different words and objects may actually be confusing/distracting. Instead, it is suggested to limit the variety of the objects you use to show what it means, as well as what you call them; "the more complex the task, the more potential there is for variability to overwhelm." This resource provides the repetitive structure needed for learning new prepositions, through repetitive tasks, directions, and limiting variability (Nicholas, K., Alt, M., & Hauwiller, E. (2019). Variability of input in preposition learning by preschoolers with developmental language disorder and typically-developing language. Child Language Teaching and Therapy.)
