Description

This is a presentation that can be used when teaching inference. It contains 3 comics and 3 animated videos. The video links are included in the presentation. (Links tested on January 24, 2018) The presentation also includes two pages that can be printed as a worksheet to help the students record their answers. An answer sheet is provided.

This product is intended to be used after you have taught the students how to make inferences. It is critical that the students realize that they make these inferences using details in the comic or video and their prior knowledge. When students make the inferences they must explain how they know these things. Forcing them to explain helps the students get to the depth of thinking.

When you get to the videos, it is important that you have prewatched the videos and determined the stopping spots. As each inference question comes up, I like to stop the video and have the students think about their thinking. This helps us get the desired inference.

Every year that I do this in my classroom, my students love it. I hope your students will too.
