Clay used to really scare me as a high school teacher! I used to dread this unit because I didn't feel confident in it at all. This is until I took lots of workshops, and worked with amazing teachers who taught me all I know. Now it's one of my favourites!
This Powerpoint/PDF is meant to help you teach the basics of working with clay. It covers everything you need to know, and make you feel confident and comfortable with the basic set-up of any clay project you wish to deliver in your middle school or high school classrooms.
It goes through an intro to clay, including:

✤what you MUST do when working with clay
✤helpful techniques (including pinch pot/coil pot/slabs which is useful for every project)
✤clean up/storing
✤firing the clay

...so the whole process from start to finish, with lots of helpful tips and techniques along the way. It also includes all key vocabulary they need to know for working with clay and ceramics.
