    Description

Need an easy, age-appropriate way to teach the difficult topic of good touch/bad touch to preschool and elementary children? Joey Wants to Know is the children's book that will meet that need! It features an adorable young kangaroo named Joey who wants to understand the difference between good touch and bad touch. Joey's questions are answered in this informative story when his mother explains appropriate and inappropriate touch and what to do if it happens. Full of colorful illustrations and lovable characters, Joey Wants to Know is an excellent tool for parents and teachers to educate and entertain children ages 3-12.

I have personally read this book to children in libraries and elementary classrooms. Kids love it, and it is a child-friendly way to talk to kids about this very sensitive topic and help keep them safe.

A free audio download is included, so it can read itself! Show this book on a digital presenter and press play for the audio. Easy peasy!

    Included:

Lesson activities require students to pay attention, listen carefully, sequence plot, draw and color, work with others, research, speak, present, and be creative. You can cover the topic in a lesson for an hour or spend several days doing the follow-up activities that challenge students to not only reflect on whom to trust but also to apply their knowledge to other important life skills.

A letter to the parent asking permission for the child to attend the lesson is included if your school requires parent approval, and there is a follow-up letter explaining the topic and encouraging parents to further discuss the issue with their children in more detail.

Coloring pages, graphics for play presentation, printable headbands, and everything you need for teaching this topic is included. There really is so much to choose from - such cute graphics and engaging activities!

Though the Common Core Curriculum is aligned to first grade for this lesson booklet, these lessons can easily be adapted to pre-k and elementary classrooms as well as guidance, health, and P.E. These lesson plans accompany my children's book Joey Wants to Know, a children's book that teaches inappropriate touch and what to do if it happens in a child-friendly, non-threatening way using adorable characters. This is an easy way to teach the difficult topic of good and bad touch. It helps protect children from child abuse while accomplishing curriculum!
