Description
When writing essays in class, students often need help with the drafting and editing process. Once they have a first rough draft, use these editing task card stations to help them editing their literary analysis essays.
**NOTE: Students must have written a whole essay before you use these stations. They should come to class with their stories at hand, and have them with them as they journey through the various stations.
CONTENTS
POSTERS
There are five stations for editing included, and for each one, there is a title poster along with 6 task cards for close analysis and editing.
**Argument Analyst - These 6 tasks help students strengthen their overall argument in their essay. Particular focus is on writing detailed thesis statements, strengthening claims, organisation of their argument, and making their points more persuasively.
**Evidence Examiner - These 6 tasks guide students through the process of analysing and editing their evidence. Students will focus on their selection of relevant evidence, varying evidence types and learning to fluently embed and punctuate direct quotations.
**Literary Critic - These 6 tasks help students identify whether or not they have evidenced close and mature knowledge of the text, show awareness of its construction, and analysed deeper themes.
**Structure Inspector - These 6 tasks help students firm up the structure of their essays: making sure they have strong introductions and conclusions, body paragraphs are well-organized, their writing is correctly paragraphed, etc.
**Language Technician - These 5 tasks help students seek out mechanical errors and correct them. Focus is on comma usage, spelling, tense, style, and word choice.
TASK CARDS
There are 30 task cards which are engaging and attractive, and will help guide students through the whole process.
RECORDING SHEET
This one-page handout will help students keep track of which cards they have completed, and help them assess their own progress.
