Description

Help! Timmy the Tiger has been murdered! This fun activity is a version of the classic game CLUE. Students complete practice problems of solving for angles and side lengths. This trigenometry activity involves solving using sine, cosine, and tangenet ratios as well as law of sines and law of cosines.

When students correctly solve each section they get a CLUE sheet that has three questions they answer to determine the weapon, suspect and location of the murder. An answer key with all solutions worked out is included.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Use congruence and similarity criteria for triangles to solve problems and to prove relationships in geometric figures.
Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles.
Prove the Laws of Sines and Cosines and use them to solve problems.
Understand and apply the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines to find unknown measurements in right and non-right triangles (e.g., surveying problems, resultant forces).
