Description

Need help completing a speech pragmatic social language evaluation? Here is a great example of one even if you don't use the TOPL 2. This sample evaluation has scores, goals and professional wording to help you perform a speech-language evaluation on a "make-believe" client/child/teenager who has autism, social pragmatic language deficits.

The TOPL-2 allows you to assess the effectiveness, and appropriateness, of a student's or child's pragmatic language skills. This is a 5-page PDF of a speech therapy evaluation on a "make-believe" teenager aged 16 years who has severe deficits in pragmatic language skills. The make-believe child has WNL expressive and receptive general language skills. The "CHILD" was also tested WITH the CELF-4 pragmatic language subtest which is used to identify nonverbal and verbal pragmatic skills that may influence social and academic communication in context.

There are scores, professional observations, sample goals and recommendations given in this sample evaluation. This is a helpful sample of an evaluation that is a detailed 5 page report that will guide the speech-language pathologist in evaluating a child with social pragmatic language deficits. This is common on a child with autism and includes wording on self-advocacy and coping skills which is important when advocating for clients with neurodiverse diagnosis and personalities.

Disclaimer: This report is not an evaluation of an actual client and is not to be construed as such as there is no correlation to any particular client. It is only to serve as an example of an evaluation that tests for pragmatic language social skills. All the precise information such as scores, descriptions and wording are "made up" for purposes to give guidance to a trained SLP professional. For the actual TOLD P and CELF 4 assessments, it is recommended that the therapist purchase these at an appropriate company such as Pearson Assessments.
