Description
In this bundle, you'll get ALL THREE of my Primary Source Mysteries! Each mystery sets the stage for engagement with a situation that puts students into the story.
The Mystery of The Lusitania (World War One): In this mystery, students are posed with an engaging scenario - they are CIA Agents that must piece together once and for all how and why the Lusitania sank. They are presented with a variety of "exhibits," all cleverly designed to engage students in higher-order thinking while also teaching them about the sinking of the Lusitania. Each exhibit is paired with a short series of open-ended constructed response questions. These questions are written at a variety of DOK levels, allowing you to get a more accurate picture of your students' understanding and challenge all of your learners.
The Mystery of The Smith Family Farm (Great Depression/Dust Bowl): In this mystery, students are posed with an engaging scenario - they are detectives that must piece together how and why The Smith Family disappeared from their farm. After creating their initial hypotheses, students will explore a series of five "exhibits" to help them decipher the mystery. Throughout these exhibits, they will interact with a variety of primary sources from the 1930s. After students have collected and analyzed each exhibit, they revise and defend their final hypotheses.
The Mystery of The Missing Man (Cold War): In this scenario, students take on the role of an Air Force Intelligence Officer. Their final mission in the service is to investigate the whereabouts of one of their country's finest spies - known only to them as "The Missing Man." The Missing Man has left clues all around his apartment. Each clue points to who The Missing Man really was, where he went, and why he left. Students will love this exploration into the world of Cold War espionage, and YOU will love the fact that they'll be happily analyzing FIVE primary sources from The Cold War era.
