What educators are saying

This is an amazing collection of word mapping that is being used with a variety of learners at different levels of decoding /PA skills. Excellent resource.
This was a great way to practice work mapping. The scope was perfect for my 1st graders. It was easy to copy and go.

Description

This Science of Reading aligned phonics bundle is a great tool for students to practice orthographic mapping where they connect phonemes (sounds) to graphemes (printed symbols: letter / letter combinations). This phonological strategy will enable students to process sounds in words and link them to their corresponding symbols in their brains. This will in turn strengthen their reading skills and automaticity.

Included are over 200 no prep printables to be used for word work, independent work, literacy centers, homework, and more.

HOW STUDENTS SHALL CARRY OUT THE TASK:

  • SAY IT: Say the word
  • TAP IT: Isolate each sound in the word and use your finger to tap a dot for each one
  • DOT IT: Dot the circles you tapped with a bingo dabber / crayon / marker
  • GRAPH IT: Write the graphemes in each corresponding box (each box represents 1 sound)
  • WRITE IT: Write the word on the line

WORD MAPPING PRINTABLES INCLUDED:

  • CVC words
  • Beginning blends (short vowel words with ccvc pattern)
  • Double consonant endings (-ff, -ll, -ss, -zz)
  • Ending blends (short vowel words with ccvc) and blends at both ends (ccvcc)
  • Beginning and final consontant digraphs (ch, sh, wh, th, ck)
  • Trigraphs -tch and -dge
  • Ng and nk endings
  • Long vowel silent e (cvce + ccvce)
  • R-controlled vowels (1-syllable words)
  • Vowel teams and other long vowel patterns
  • Variant vowels and diphthongs

Reference sheets with small pictures and corresponding words to match the ones depicted on the worksheets are included. These could also be used to enable students to self-check.
