TERRY FOX 2 Reading Passages, 6 activities: Grades 7-8 PRINT and EASEL

This resource includes informational texts and lots of activities to help your students find out more about and celebrate the life of Terry Fox.

This resource has been updated to include digital and print access using the new interactive digital layer tool. I have created my own version, available to buyers, but buyers can create their own version too, reflecting the needs of their students

Included in this resource:

2-one page reading texts of over 500 words detailing Terry’s life and his legacy.

An activity designed for each of the texts and a third activity that requires both texts be read.

Activity 1 – “Memory Challenge”: putting details back in order and supplying missing words or phrases in Part 1;

Activity 2 – “IMHO” – students are asked to express their opinions on details in Part 2;

Activity 3 – “Fast Facts” – students choose what they believe are the most important facts in both texts and explain why;

Other activities (not related to the texts):

“Inner Dialogue” - a creative writing assignment in which students describe what Terry Fox might have been thinking as he ran;

“Remembering Terry” – students design their own interview questions and then interview and record the answers of someone who remembers Terry’s Marathon of Hope;

“Into the Wind: Terry’s Story” – 3 pp of questions based on an online video about Terry Fox’s life.

Answer keys are included.
