What educators are saying

Great resource to use during syllable unit. My students continue to refer to it and use it throughout the day.
These are great for our Friday review, kids and I are tired and I just want a fun way to teach them! I am an Orton-Gillingham tutor, I appreciate these resources!

    Description

Get TONS of resources to support teaching and practicing all the syllable types! These Orton Gillingham/Science of Reading aligned resources include colorful teaching aids, syllable type and division rules anchor charts, and tons of practice worksheets!

    WHAT'S INCLUDED:

    • Syllable Types Anchor Chart: The chart includes all six syllable types with a concise description of each, a one and two-syllable word example, and matching pictures.
    • Individual Syllable Types Mid-Size Posters: Get 8 smaller displays, with each one focused on a particular syllable type (closed, open, magic e/VCe, vowel team/diphthong, r-controlled, and consonant+le).
    • Syllable Division Rules Charts: Get 2 charts that walk students through each step of syllable division. One chart is used for 1-2 syllable words. Another chart is included for 3+ syllable words.
    • Syllable Division Patterns Anchor Chart/Poster: The chart includes the syllable patterns, a picture of an animal that serves as a keyword, and the word written out with the syllable type labeled. Included are Rabbit (VC/CV), Tiger (V/CV), Camel (VC/V), lion (V/V), and turtle (C+le).
    • Individual Syllable Division Patterns Mid-Size Posters: Get 5 smaller displays, with each one focused on a particular syllable type: (VC/CV, VC/V, V/CV, V/V and C+le.)
    • Open Syllable House Poster: This poster shows an adorable house with an open door, of course! The word 'hi' is written inside the door and used to show that no consonant is closing in the vowel. The door is open, so the vowel is long.
    • Closed Syllable House Poster: This house has the door closed. The word 'dog' is used to show that the consonant g is closing in the vowel sound, making the vowel say its short sound.
    • 20 pages of intentional syllable division practice worksheets!
-VC/CV Rabbit Words Practice: 3 Worksheets
-V/CV Tiger Words Practice: 3 Worksheets
-VC/V Camel Words Practice: 3 Worksheets

    • *NEW* Pizza-Themed Syllable Sort (6 worksheets, 1 for each syllable type). As kids learn each syllable type, they read the words, cut out the pieces of pizza, then glue the correct words to make a whole pizza pie!

    • BONUS: 3 Open & Closed Syllable Practice Worksheets
-Syllable Sort: Cut out the syllables and sort them under the open or closed door.
-Syllable Practice: Draw a line to the correct door. If it’s an open syllable, draw the line to the open door. If a closed syllable, draw a line to the closed door.
-Syllable Coloring: Each syllable is written inside a pencil. Kids color the open syllables orange and the closed syllables green.
