What educators are saying

This is a fun way to expose my students to character traits that we want to work towards. My class loves super heroes so this made a great addition to make my job easy. Learning is always stronger when we are having fun because we forget we are learning and it makes my job much easier. Thanks!

Description

Tie on your favorite cape and get ready to teach character traits--and a variety of literacy skills--with my original superhero poems and companion worksheets! This unit is designed to build reading fluency, rhyming, and writing skills, and is perfect for primary grade students!

I've created a mini-lesson with literature links to my favorite Kevin Henkes books for each poem. They are designed help you teach important social skills of kindness, courage, helpfulness, and patience during your language arts block!

Four original featured poems, anchor chart accents, and companion fluency, rhyming, context clue, and writing activities are included for being brave, helpful, kind, and patient. They can be used to introduce a character traits unit at any time of the school year! I used this unit with my second graders and we studied one poem per week for a month!

  • Courageous Cathy
  • Helpful Hank
  • Kind Karen
  • Great Nate
