Summer Reading Challenge - Tab Book

This tab book is the perfect way to motivate students to read and reflect over the summer!! As teachers, we spend an entire school year encouraging students to read, and work toward instilling in them, a love of reading. This Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to keep them reading and loving books!!

The Challenge: Encourage students to read 20 books this summer. The books can be anything: picture books, novels, comic books. Whatever motivates your readers.

In addition to reading 20 books, students will use the rest of the pages in the tab book to respond and reflect. The response pages include:

- Story Summaries

- Favorite Characters

- Story Settings

- New Words

- Favorite Quotes

- Parts of Speech

When the school year starts again, students should “turn-in” their Summer Reading Challenge books to you, and then receive a certificate of completion!! Certificates are available in both color and black and white. You may also choose to add an additional incentive to go with the certificates!!

Students (and parents) will absolutely love this challenge!! You can make these books with your students right before the end of the school year, and ask them to return them to you after summer. You can also share with the grade level below you, to get your future students excited about reading!!
