Description

This language arts resource consists of detailed directions on how to do a summary reading card for any subject using Bloom’s. It includes a ten-point grading rubric for the instructor, a sample of the back and front of a summary card, and a detailed overview of Bloom’s Taxonomy with sample questions for each level. The required reading summary is done on 5” x 8” file cards so there is not a great deal of writing for the student, and because a rubric is already developed, grading is quick and easy for the instructor.

Because most upper level classes require reading to be completed outside of class, many students fail to do the assignment and come unprepared to class. However, for learning to take place, it is essential that every student come equipped to learn. If the students are required to make a summary card, it compels them to read or at least scan the assignment before class.
