What educators are saying

I love task cards because they are great for so many activities in the classroom. Can use these in centers, whole group, small groups, homework.
Super well laid out and organized! I've used this for a while with my low level ELLs and it is great for our small groups!

Description

Subject-Verb Agreement: This set of 24 task cards is designed to give your students an opportunity to practice proofreading sentences and determining whether a sentence is written correctly, or whether it has an error in subject-verb agreement. Each task card poses the same question: "Which of the following sentences is written correctly?" These task cards contain a multiple-choice format, making them ideal for language test prep.

Students will complete the following steps as they work through each task card:

  1. They will read the three sentences written on the task card. (Two have errors in subject-verb agreement, and one is written correctly.)
  2. They will determine which multiple-choice option is written correctly.
  3. They will record their answer on their recording sheet.

These task cards were created to match the basic subject-verb agreement rules I presented in my Introduction PowerPoint. Click HERE if you want to check it out.)

An answer key and a recording sheet are also included. There are two versions to choose from for recording sheets- a traditional sheet and an optional unique game-like version. For the game-like answer sheet, students record their answers on a themed worksheet, where three trolls have created a contest to see who can collect the most sentence violations. Once they have recorded all their answers, students tally their A, B, and C answers to reveal the winning troll!

Many teachers report posting the task cards around the room to give their students an opportunity to get up and walk around the room. Others say that they use these as a whole class formative activity where they place a task card under their doc cam, and then have students write their chosen answer on whiteboards. Both activities provide an engaging alternative to a traditional worksheet activity!

********This resource is available in three formats:

  1. Traditional Printables- Print the PDF and distribute paper task cards and recording sheets.
  2. Easel Activity- Students can complete this activity on a device. Students read each question and select an answer. This has a multiple-choice format, and students push the button that displays the correct answer. No checking is necessary! When your students turn it in, you will see their score and the number of attempts they made on each card.
  3. Easel Assessment- Students complete this self-grading quiz on a device, as well. After reading each question, students select the correct answer from a list of three possible answer choices. With this option, the teacher chooses whether or not his or her students receive immediate feedback.

Here's what teachers like you had to say about using these task cards with their students:

⭐️ Rhonda K. said, "This skill is one that a lot of my students struggle with every year so any practice we can get is helpful. Task cards are always a good thing to use and this one was no disappointment. Will be in my rotation yearly!!"

⭐️ Mary Jo B. said, "So cute and a great companion for practice after the PowerPoint. I love how you have them adding up the answers to see which toll wins. It is motivational for them and a quick way for me to check their assessment!"

⭐️ Gabriela O. said, "Highly engaging and the questions are great. I highly recommend!"

⭐️ Michelle N. said, "Great practice with grammar skills! I used this with 5th grade as a review."
