Students Become Petrologist and Classify Rocks

Students will examine six rock samples. They will list characteristics of each rock. Such as, color, texture, size and hardness. Then, they will use the characteristics to classify the rocks. Later, they will compare and contrast two rocks and write about their findings. This activity reinforces reading, writing and science standards.
