Student Dictionary

UPDATED to include hundreds of new words! This spelling helper includes Fry's first 300 words, the first 220 Dolch words, and hundreds more! This invaluable tool will help your students to independently use correct spelling in their writing. Save your sanity during writer's workshop and let the students get their spelling help from this dictionary. This dictionary contains one page for each letter of the alphabet, as well as 2 additional pages and a cover page. It includes the first 300 Fry words and the first 220 Dolch words as well as ten blank lines on each page for students to add words that have been introduced in class. Also included are color words, number words, days of the week, months of the year, holidays, contractions, animal words, family words, the fifty states, foods, and pop culture words.

There are two covers available for students' dictionaries, one in color and one ink-saver in black and white..

Here are some ideas for the use of this dictionary in the classroom.
-The most obvious way to use this dictionary is as a spelling helper
to encourage students to use conventional spelling in their writing.
Students should have the dictionary readily available while they
write.

-This dictionary teaches students how to use a resource to find the
correct spelling of words.

-This dictionary can be used to reinforce spelling and high-frequency words that have been taught in class. After a word has been introduced, students can circle or highlight that word in their
dictionaries. If the word is not already included in the dictionary,
the students can write the word on the provided lines. When a
word is added to the word wall, it can be located in or added to
the students’ dictionaries.
