Description

English is a tricky language full of idioms with hidden meanings. Do you teach your students sayings & phrases? They're useful to know and students love learning them. (Especially good for ESL kids). This book has conveniently numbered pages, a table of contents, a review of the Core Knowledge Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade sayings & phrases and each page contains the saying with a writing line for the student to copy the saying, a box for writing an explanation of the saying's meaning, and a box to illustrate it. This book of Sayings & Phrases contains all of the sayings included in the 3nd Grade Core Knowledge Sequence Curriculum, but could be used to supplement any curriculum. The sayings included are:

Actions speak louder than words.
His bark is worse than his bite.
Beat around the bush
Beggars can’t be choosers.
Clean bill of health
Cold shoulder
A feather in your cap
Last straw
Let bygones be bygones.
One rotten apple spoils the whole barrel.
On its last legs
Rule the roost
The show must go on.
Touch and go
When in Rome do as the Romans do.

A huge thanks to the 3am teacher, from the pond, and innovative connections for the borders!
