Description

This interesting cultural reading tells the story of how Barbados' population came to be unlike any of the islands around it. It briefly describes how Oliver Cromwell conquered the island when it was rebelling against British rule and sent thousands of Irish to Barbados as punishment.

A worksheet of 8 Common Core-aligned critical reading questions is included for students to complete after the reading. This Informational Text assignment makes for part of a lesson on St. Patrick's Day, Irish History or on Barbados' history and can be completed in class or for homework.
