What educators are saying

This resource is perfect for our writing center and went along well with our small group STEM activity.
Fantastic resource. My students liked completing our "puzzle" after reading stories together. It was a great reminder for them to look for and recall important details.

Description

Story retelling is an important skill for readers to learn. Introduce retelling a story with the book Retelling Robin that is written by me.  Then, use large puzzle pieces to act as a great visual cue to help students retell stories. Using the included familiar stories of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and The Little Red Hen, students will learn the story elements of characters, setting, problem, events, and solution.

Story Retelling Activities Included:

  • Angela C. says, "This is the BEST unit for retelling I have found!!! The story is PERFECT and just what I needed to introduce the idea of retelling to my kinders. I put the large puzzle up on my wall, and I can see the wheels turning at retell time, to make sure they include ALL the pieces! I search high and low for something to help me introduce this skill, and I am so glad I found this!"
  • Karen G. says, "I have an ELL student with a significant learning disability as well. This resource was perfect as a way to introduce the skill of retelling stories she has heard. Her reading level has moved from pre-primer to a mid-K level and I am hopeful that this resource will help her retell the stories she reads herself. She was very motivated by the materials! Thanks!"
