Description
Engage students with stoichiometry calculations with this no-prep, self-monitoring stoichiometry stations activity. These 6 stations are designed to offer students the chance to work collaboratively, at their own pace, and with your guidance nearby.
With the answer key and problem set-up printed on the back of each station, students learn to self-monitor their progress. Print once use year after year.
Topics range from the following calculations:
- Mole to mole
- Gram to mole
- Mole to gram
- Gram to gram
Tips for Practice Stations:
- Print at least 4 copies of each station to place around your room. You might want to print 6 copies of stations that require more work, for example, stations 2 and 3 in this set. Print the answer key on the backside of each station.
- Students may begin at any station, they are not sequential. Students bring their own notebook paper, calculator, and periodic table* [ stickers that won’t get lost work great here! ] and visit stations, working through problems together, numbering which station they are working on.
- Students are instructed to check their work at a station before proceeding to another. If they miss a part of the setup or the problem, encourage them to work backward from the key, but if they still can't figure it out, they should ask for help. It’s helpful to position yourself in the classroom close to the multi-step problems.
*I’ve included copies of the periodic tables used to complete the calculations in this resource in the PDFs that follow. These can also be found in this freebie.
