States of Matter: 5 Science Partner Play Scripts with a Comprehension Worksheet

These five partner plays focus on solids, liquids, and gases and how substances can change their state as temperature is increased or decreased. They are intended to be used as fluency-building activities that 2nd and 3rd grade students can do with a partner. An added bonus is that they support science concepts related to states of matter! This packet also includes a follow-up comprehension worksheet. Students can answer the questions after they finish reading each script.

This resource is available in multiple formats. Each teacher gets to choose the format that best meets his/her students' needs. You will choose between the printable partner plays and the paperless version that uses Google Slides. Each script is exactly two pages, making it easy to print them back-to-back on a single page.

These scripts require minimal teacher support, thereby allowing teachers to work with other small groups. For teachers who implement reading centers, these plays are perfect.
