Start a business - Pizza Parlor {STEAM activities}

Students will design and create a pizza parlor. With a focus on STEAM, they will be placed in small cooperative groups where they will start with a business plan, apply for a business loan, design a floor plan of their restaurant, create a menu, uniforms and a logo. Students will then create advertisements using print, radio and television ads. They will be faced with daily decisions and will need to a keep a balanced budget. Each cooperative group will be competing with the other groups for earning the biggest profit.

Math skills include all operations with fractions, decimals, percents, and geometry using area, perimeter, radius, and circumference. Students will create and solve real life word problems.

This creative and comprehensive unit provides a wide depth of upper elementary and and early middle school curricular content and also features a gangbuster celebration final activity!
