The Hunger Games and Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet are intricate pieces of literature that mirror each other in numerous ways. This assessment enables students to practice reading comprehension, character development, story development, word meaning and choice, and understand and justify author.

This product allows you the option to assess with a project or a comparative literary analysis paper/essay.

The project will take a max of 6-8 periods to complete (this time frame depends on how much time your students take to work on the project). This project is inspired by events people will experience at one point or another in their life. They will have the option to create a wedding or funeral for their chosen character. The project challenges to think through the character's role in their story and how they impacted the lives of others around the. It also challenges them to take the role of the author while they attempt to portray a specific character in a wedding toast or eulogy.

The paper/essay will take a max of 6 periods to complete (this time frame depends on how much time your students take to work on the paper/essay). This literary analysis challenges students to analyze both Hunger Games and Romeo & Juliet separately and in conjunction with each other.
