Standardized Test Strategies, Multiple-Choice Questions & Writing Responses

This lesson is designed to help students be successful on standardized testing. You can use the section focused on answering multiple-choice questions, responding to writing prompts, or both depending on the format of the test and your students’ needs.

There is a high and low level version of the lessons and the notes to meet the needs of different classes and students. You could use one level as a whole class activity and another as a small group or independent review.

Students will fill in strategies in the guided note-taking packet and annotate the questions, passages, and prompts as directed throughout the lesson. Following the note taking lesson, students will apply these strategies in a question trail activity.

This lesson can be printed, used digitally, or a combination of the two. Resources include Google Drive resources (Docs, Slides) and well as print ready PDF versions.
