Description

St Patricks Day Math for 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade

This St. Patrick's Day Math activity is based upon third and fourth grade common core standards. However, there are many challenging problems included, which is best suited enrich younger grades, or challenge students who are struggling in older grades. I used this with my 6th/7th intervention and it was just the right level for them. (Check out the preview to see some of the problems!)

Math Escape Bundle

This challenge can be done individually, as a small group, or as a whole group. You can set it up as task cards or have each card placed in an envelope and they can open a new card as they complete each step. If this is set up as task cards, it can be used as a scoot activity. It does not need to be completed in order for the children to come to a final answer. For my small group intervention, we opened and read each clue to the group, and then collaborated to solve the clue together.

The task of this activity is that it is just before St. Patrick's Day and a trouble maker has stolen the pot of gold. You will work with Lewie the Leprechaun to find out where the pot of gold is hiding. This activity will promote communication, cooperation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Flexible options:

  • One card a day, for 12 days leading up to St. Patrick's Day
  • A few cards a day during the week
  • All of the cards at one time
  • Scoot/ task card activity
  • Small Groups
  • Whole Group
  • Independent Enrichment Activity
