What educators are saying

So cute and easy to edit. My students loved the leprechaun hunt using these clues! I will definitely use again.
I love using this resource the day after St. Patrick's as a special little activity that our Larry the Leprechaun leaves us because he loved our leprechaun traps so much!

Description

Send your students on a St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun scavenger hunt for a pot of gold treasure hunt while solving riddle clues and using their positional word and seasonal vocabulary! Use the 6 rhyming editable riddle clues to have your students locate a pot of gold hidden by the leprechaun that visited your room! Each clue has a St. Patrick's Day themed riddle with a themed answer that will lead to the location of the next clue.

However, the sixth (optional) clue turns out to be a typical "Leprechaun trick" as the leprechaun tricks the class and does not reveal the pot of gold location! Instead, he sends your students on a free roaming search around the room for the gold hidden in a spot of your choice! (This last "leprechaun trick" is optional, and you can use the last clue to end the hunt after the last clue by using the farewell note.)

Included:

  • Teacher instructions guide & clue guide
  • 6 St. Patrick’s Day-themed riddles and clues rhyming with editable clue locations (Full size, half size, color and black & white)
  • 1 scavenger hunt introduction and final farewell note
  • 3 differentiated writing/sequencing prompts (11 prompts all together)

The scavenger hunt cards have an editable portion: for each clue answer, fill in your own location or spot in your classroom that matches the included clue hunt, regardless of what you have in your classroom. There are also clue picture cards that can be used if you do not have any of the clue items. (More detailed instructions are included!)

Print the scavenger hunt cards in either color or black & white on bright green card stock for an extra leprechaun effect.

After the scavenger hunt, there are 11 differentiated sequential writing and drawing prompts in order to write about the scavenger hunt.

Pot of gold ideas: I use a black or green plastic cauldron filled with edible gold Oreos! Other options are chocolate gold coins or plastic gold coins. The students love having "gold" for a snack.
