Description

The Legend of St George and the Dragon is a lovely, short stage script that explores the famous legend and brings it to life.

Suitable for ages 8+

Cast size: 21

Can increase cast size to 26 with additional non-speaking Townspeople and additional Storytellers

Can reduce cast size to 16 by giving some students more than one role to play and by dividing lines up amongst other characters

Running time: approx. 45 minutes.

The Legend of St George and the Dragon is a great stage script that tells the story of how the courageous, honourable and kind Knight, George, became St George. When the city of Silene is terrorised by a dragon, the King is unable (unwilling) to help. But brave George arrives just in time to slay the beast and save the Townspeople - including the King's daughter. This is a fabulous and funny stage script version of one of England's most enduring legends. The play allows for a number of less confident students to perform in non-role-specific parts, so it is perfect for first theatre performances. It's also a great resource for an English topic day.

This script includes fabulous full production notes, with ideas for staging, props and furniture, lighting, sound effects, any music and costumes and has great suggestions for creating your Dragon! It also contains lots of great follow-on activities covering story, characters, theme, script layout and performance-related tasks for further work in the classroom or drama studio.

If you are giving a performance of this play to an audience, regardless of whether you charge admission or not, you must purchase the appropriate Performance Rights License, available in this store.
